Nowadays, visualization and computation have become closely interrelated in large simulation codes. The large amounts of data (tera bytes) produced by supercomputers cannot be simply postprocessed; to exploit the results high definition graphic devices must also be able to display a very large amount of pixels (tens of mega).

Real time visualization offers new opportunities to the user. He can interact and control the simulation, tune some runtime parameters, … But large display devices also offer new opportunities for collaborative work: researchers can comment, localy or remotely, around a scientific visualization wall and decide to drive the simulation accordingly.

New trends in visualization –real time rendering, particles, textures, 3D, …– can highlight poorly understood phenomena and allow some feedback on the mathematical modeling or discretization of the initial problem. Scientific visualization facilities are an essential tool to explore some parameter space when the desired solution is difficult to describe mathematically

Collaborative visualization facilitate scientific inquiry, outreach and interactions between actors from different disciplines (physics, numerical analysis computer science, data analysis, …) while stimulating innovation, creativity and new ways of doing science.

During the final cocktail, the best presentation will be awarded a prize from HP. The Jury is composed of Philippe Anfray, Goldmam Thierry Laurent Grandguillot Thien Hiep Lê and Martial Mancip. The prize: a tablet HP Slate 21 all-in-one.
